Peeping Tom ( aka Lucky)

We had five precious doggies this week stay with us while their owners were traveling. This particular pooch would jump on the couch when the doorbell rang and peek out the curtain to see who was coming. I guess he was watching for his owners to come back. It was too cute. He is a rescued dog that is fortunate to have been adopted by the Chessons and will have a wonderful life from here on out.

We have a gate to our doggie's play area that keeps them seperated for a while and we always have them looking through it to see what we are doing. I don't know why, but they aren't content to sit around and watch movies. We usually have Lassie, or Milo and Otis on the TV but they always want to see what we are doing.

Our friend Hank, the English Bulldog, loves chewing on metal so he chews on the bars of the gate. Luckily they are pretty darn strong so he can't hurt a thing. Hank has been feeling bad lately. He has a really bad cold and we are hoping he will be better soon. We miss the little fellow and don't like it that he isn't feeling good.

Millie, one of our regulars, could jump over the previous gate so we got one a little taller and sometimes I think she is going to jump over this one. She can literally jump all the way to the top of the gate and one day when her owner came for her she jumped into her arms at the gate. Too funny.

Another Before and After

We see so many precious dogs at our shop. Sometimes when they come in they look a little shaggy. We try our best to send them home looking very special. This little poodle just needed a little trim and Joan performed her magic on her toenails. She looked pretty darn cute when she went home. We just love our before and afters.......!

Day Care fun

This is a picture I took a while back of three of our favorite doggie day care visitors. I can't believe how much Hank has grown since I took this picture. He has gotten so much bigger.

Bella and Milly are his best friends at the day care. When Bella came the first time she was not very social with us or any of the dogs. Now, after being with us several times she is always excited to come to see us and her doggie friends. I am not sure if it is just our company or if it has something to do with the homemade liver doggie treats....ha ha.We are always excited to see her.

Milly, our little mischevious one is one of the reasons we had to replace our baby gate. Milly could jump over it. Now we have a taller one and I swear I think one day she will jump high enough to make it over this one. She is such a little mess.

Hank tries to help some new friends!

We have more fun with the Wilcox's English Bulldog Hank. He makes for some great photo ops and he is always making us laugh. We caught him in the act of trying to help two new friends escape from their kennel. Jeff Jenkins two daschunds were in the kennel waiting for their turn at the doggie wash and Hank decided he didn't want them locked up. It reminded us of one of those funny dog movies where the dog opens up the cages and lets all of the dogs loose. If Hank could just chew through a metal chain they would have been footloose and fancy free.....ha ha. We just love ya Hank.

Grandchildren at Pampered Paws

Thanksgiving time we had boarders at the doggie day care and Emily and Elliot Ogden had a great time going up and helping MeMe (Carol) with the doggies. The kennels were not so lonely with two little visitors in them and the dogs seemed to really enjoy the extra attention they recieved. We had to put up a taller doggie gate at the play room for the dogs because a couple of our little doggie friends can jump really high. The gate works out wonderful for children as well....lol. Also, taking advantage of our dog washing station was Lily the bassett hound who lives in Cedar Park with my grandchildren. It seems that car rides don't sit really well with her and she was in desperate need of a doggie bath.

Learning all the tricks!

We have seen some wonderful dogs in the short time that we have been in business. It seems that folks in this area have a wide variety of pets. Most of them are a joy to work with. We have had only a couple that we could not groom. This lovely terrier is named Diesel and he came from the beach area needing a little clean-up. I think he turned out really well and seemed to be very happy with his new haircut. We look forward to meeting all of the area furry family members.

Pampering is our Job

Our groomer/trainer, J.T. Burnett comes to work with us two days a week and she has really taken on our motto of Pampered Paws. James' dog Buc comes to visit us several days during the week and he and J.T. have really hit it off. She not only pampers Buc but she pampers all of the animals that come in to the shop. You can tell from the way the dogs act around her that they sense her love of dogs!

Before and After

Sometimes dogs come to us for grooming and maybe they haven't been for a while. Those dogs make the most impressive before and after photos. One doggie came from the beach in need of a makeover and when he left he felt so much better and looked great. J.T. Burnett is teaching us to groom and we are having a good time learning. Hopefully one day we will be as good as she is with those clippers and scissors. Mary Jo is well on her way to becoming a great groomer and I am trying hard to keep up. In the meantime we are making the world more beautiful by sending home pretty little puppies.

Hank is one fun pooch!

Doggie Day Care is up and running at Pampered Paws. One of our favorite doggies is Hank, from the owners of Wilcox Pharmacy. Hank is an English Bulldog with quite a personality. He loves to play with with other dogs, especially the pretty little girl dogs. Hank spends most of his time at Wilcox Pharmacy with his owners but when things get too busy up there he comes to visit us at daycare. He has quite a fan base from what I understand. In fact people go to the pharmacy just to see him sometimes. He is becoming a local celebrity....lol.

I couldn't resist putting him on the couch for a picture. He can't quite get up there by himself yet. Most of the time you will find him snoozing in one of the comfy doggie beds. We just LOVE Hank.

Up and Running

Pampered Paws officially opened on September 21, 2009. Friends, Carol Gentz, Mary Jo Hall and Joan Hileman decided that Winnie needed a place for pampered pets. The business offers grooming, boarding and daycare. Unknown to the trio was the fact that the veterinary office no longer had a groomer. So, it worked out for the new business because people were looking for someone to take care of their grooming needs.

Pampered Paws is located conveniently next to the Winnie Post office at 127A W. Cypress. The business has a living room area for the pets to play and also a closed in porch and a fenced yard to them to play. The day care dogs are treated to playtime, treats and lots of tender loving care. Watch this site often for photos. You might one day see one of your own pets on the blog.
